- The Lift-a-thon is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2010. He explained how the Lift-a-thon is structured for the benefit of the freshmen parents- the boys secure sponsors for so much per lb that they lift. Receive prizes (apparel, etc.) based on minimum goals established.
- Coach discussed the following changes that have been made to the 2010 Football Calendar:
Dead period June 27th- July 10th for varsity
May 24th – start of summer workouts
July 30th- 1st Scrimmage at Coffee Co. @5pm Bus leaves @at 3pm
Based on calendar changes we will need to re-schedule “Meet the Team Night”
Aug 6th- 2nd Scrimmage with Independence @ 7pm
August 13th -14th – MTSU Jamboree has cancelled (they lost their funding) and becomes a regular practice
Aug 20th 1st game- David Lipscomb
Oct 1st -Homecoming with East Hickman
Senior parents can select date for senior night as long as it is not Homecoming
- Coach also discussed the USA Laboratories Supplement drink package that the boys received. Participation is totally up to parent’s discretion. Parents can get on USA website for products. If 20 items are ordered, a 20% discount is received. Coach will place an order with USA once he receives a 20 item order. This is not a fundraiser for QBC. QBC writes the checks to USA for the order & Coach collects from the boys. Coach is trying to pass along a savings to parents since the boys use supplements in their weight training program.
-He also discussed a Combine that is available for the boys to participate in. The QBC will have the registration form on our website in the near future.
Nick Mullins discussed the following:
-Explained purpose of Quarterback Club
- He advised the rising Freshmen Parents that the QBC will hold a Freshmen Parent Meeting on March 22, 2010. Tony Phelps will be coordinating this meeting with Coach Herzog. This will be a very informative meeting for all rising freshmen parents and he encourages all to attend.
- Nick distributed the QBC By-laws to all present. He requested that everyone review them so that we can have further discussion and vote on them at the March meeting. The By-Laws will be posted on the website.
-Nick distributed The 2010 Football Budget to all parents in attendance. He requested that all parents review the budget so that we can vote on the Budget at the March QBC meeting.
-He reviewed and explained the Football Expenses for the upcoming season & tried to clarify the importance of each expense need for the benefit of the rising freshmen parents in attendance.
-Nick addressed how the QBC income needs to be generated to meet the 2010 Budget expense which is $26,815. Below is a recap of how income is generated:
Golf tournament- June 7th * QBC’s major fundraiser
Kroger Cards
Corp sponsors/banners sales
Membership fees
Smug Mug
Program Ads
Additional fundraising if needed?
-Nick explained the importance of the role of the Parent Reps in providing valuable information to parents about upcoming meeting, events and schedule changes via email. He explained that Coach Daniels communicates directly to Robin Baldree who in turn emails pertinent information on to the Parent Reps for distribution to their parents. He advised all parents that they will hear a lot from their Parent Rep!
-Nick wants to organize a committee of QBC parents to help derive additional corporate sponsors.
-He discussed volunteer positions needed to help make our football program a success. Some of the volunteer positions needed are: field lining, chain gang, programs & t-shirts sales, field clean-up. –
-Nick urged all parents to get involved as we need everyone’s involvement to be a successful program. Tony Phelps welcomed all parents, and invited the rising Freshmen parents to not only to become involved in the QBC but invited them to be a part of our tailgating group, the “Porto-Page” group which is open to all football fans and meets before all home and away games.
-Nick opened the floor for questions.
-Meeting concluded at 7pm.
